My name is Wes Hulvey and I am the Senior Pastor at SMBC. If you are searching for a church home in NWA or the Springdale area, I pray you will join us in person for a worship service. I want to personally extend an invitation to you. Thank you for stopping by to find more info about SMBC as well as me and my family.
I came on staff at SMBC in October 2010. I have been in ministry for over twenty-nine years, having surrendered to preach in 1995. I have had the privilege of preaching at churches in Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, and Arkansas. I hold a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministry from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, VA (2017) and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from BMA Seminary, Jacksonville, TX (2005). I am a certified Evangelism Explosion (EE) teacher-trainer and a Church Health Consultant. I believe that evangelism and discipleship are two critical aspects that are often over-looked in our society. My goal is to teach others how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and then help them to grow spiritually. In March 2011, I completed training as a Transformational Church Consultant. In April 2018 I received a commission as Chaplain serving the Civil Air Patrol 115th Composite Squadron in NWA. In May 2020 I received a certificate for Mental Health First Aid for Covid19. In September 2024 I was appointed as Chaplain for AR Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. My goal is to help the local church accomplish her mission within her community and train believers in discipleship.
My wife, Tonya, is also very involved with me in ministry. Tonya has a passion for teaching, working with children's ministries, and also for sharing Christ with the world. Tonya is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who seeks to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of all she meets. Tonya currently serves as our Children's Ministry Director at SMBC. We have been blessed with three "children": Micah, age 24; Mitchell, age 22; and Mikayla (Mac), age 21. We enjoy serving God together as a family and are glad to be part of Northwest Arkansas.
We know that ministries play a crucial role in the lives of young people. We seek to build a solid, Biblical foundation for people of all ages to equip them as they grow. We are well aware of the importance to know what you believe and why you believe it. Our goal as teachers is to build up young men and women to be all they can be for Christ. We desire to be used by God to teach the next generation to know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray God’s richest blessing on you. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of personal assistance to you in any way.
-- In Christ, Pastor Wes
